The Set UP... for a good GAMING machine under $1700

Case: Apevia X-jupiter jr mid size
PSU: 750 wat Coolermaster real power pro
Motherboard: EVGA nforce 780i SLi
CPU: intell core 2 quad Q9300
RAM: OCZ Dual chan DDR2 1066 Mhz SLi
Video Cards: EVGA Geforce 8800 SLi x2
Drives: sony DVD burner
Cooling: vantec PCI fan card & ThermalTake Big water 760i water cooling system
OS: vista ultimate 64-bit

Note: all Equiptment can be purchased on tigerdirect.

This is what i've come up with so far. as for a good system under $1700. Im trying to make something that will last and be easy to upgrade in the long term. as far as a HDD & more ROM drives, I plan on taking apart the computer i have now, that has a 500GB HDD and DVD player. I am also looking for a good LCD monitor with HDMI. any suggestions will help.

Ultimate goal: to be able to play the most up to date games and play them without issues, and saving money is good too.

PS: I could be way out of the ball park here and seem to not know what the HECK im talking about but please bare with me.

thanks.

first off, do you plan on doing any overclocking on the cpu? if so get a Q6600 instead. they have a higher cpu multiplier and a lower FSB, and as such overclock better. also, what version 8800 are you planning on using, because with the GTX200 high end cards out, you can get a 9800GTX for less than $200 now, and it outpreforms most of the 8800s except the ultra. as for everything else, it all looks in order to me. if i upgrade my system in the fall i will be getting the same mobo and ram, and i already have the same power supply. only thing i would change is the case, since i have a thing for full towers. that's really more up to you than anything else though, whatever floats your boat.

only tip i have is that if you are planning on doing a first rig, watercooling is a pain to install and can be kind of clunky for a first time user. if you dont plan on doing overclocking i would just get a good HDT cooler (see OCZ vendetta 2) instead. im using the one i listed in my rig now and it keeps my athlon 4000+ san diego around 27c with an ambient temperature in the mid 70s, and just under 44c at max load with an ambient in the high 80s

cheaper too

agree...you should look at a GTX260 (if you wanna stay with nvidia) which are down to $300 with MIR 2x 8800GTS will be $300+ with MIR...with the single card you would get higher minimum FPS (you cant notice 31FPS but when it dips you will) less heat (higher gpu overclocks if your gonna bench) and just simplier way to go , and not every program will use SLI, scaling is not 100% as well
