Building My First Computer, Micro ATX Case... Help!

Edit 11/23/06: Any suggestions to find WinXP for cheap?

Building my first computer. I want to build a budget/reliable/hobby machine, no gaming except for some simple ones.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Already bought these:

Ultra Micro Fly (Blue) Case ULT-33119 $35 After Rebate; didn't want the black one.

ASUS A8R-MX and AMD/A64 3400+, Total $73

Antec SP2.0 350W PSU, $10 After Rebate

Artic Alpine64 Fan $8. Is the pre-applied thermal material good enough?

Samsung SHS162ABEBN DVD Burner for $26

.-----------------------------------------------------------------

Case has 2 fans and PSU has 2 fans. How do they all get coordinated?

Have some cheap after rebate HDDs lying around, will use one. Is there a limit on how big it can be?

What do I need for audio and video?

What have I forgotten?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Not a bad budget PC.

Looks like the motherboard has onboard high definition audio.

So all you need is a video card ( PCIe ) and some DDR memory.

Power supply fans will cycle on and off on their own. Two case fans, depending on the plugs, will either connect to the motherboard or the power supply..

I've seen some low profile videocards that might work nicely.

You linked to an AGP card. The motherboard the OP got uses PCI-Express. Also, the Micro Fly most likely has a removable motherboard tray, making installation fairly simple. In addition, the Micro Fly can use full height graphics cards, but you must watch the length. I know that a 6800GT would just barely fit inside of a QPack, so if you decide to go with a dedicated GPU instead of the onboard graphics, pick out a graphics card that is the same length or shorter than a 6800GT.

How can I find a "cheapie" 6800GT-sized card?

Basically, any midrange graphics card will fit:

7900GS (might be pushing it, but I believe it would fit), 7600GT, 7600GS, Radeon X1650XT/Pro, continuing onto the low end cards... (The cards I listed range in price from $75 - $200).

How much were you looking to spend on a graphics card? I've used the integrated XPress 200 graphics, and they aren't bad for basic computer usage, certainly better than Intel's GMA 950.

Sorry about that! Thought it was PCI-e.

Added 2 512mb sticks (KVR400X64C3A/512) for $43.07 each using Google $20 off $50 coupons.

Where can I find cheap legal WinXP?
