building my first *budget* home theatre...

I don't much like the Klipsches. They're "party" speakers - a nice pair of Klipsches will deliver high-SPL sound to half a house, but I would'nt use 'em for movies.

Speakers I can reccomend include:
-Anything made by AV123
-Anything made by Paradigm
-The Radiient Helios (mail-order only...but the best $300 you can spend!), and as long as we're at it, anything else they make
-Anything made by NHT (you'll need to get it used.)

I really like the Paradigm Atoms, which can do the higher-SPL bits of home theater remarkably well.

Polks are better than Klipsch's in my opinion, but I still would prefer the av123's.

But that's just me

I do think you are definitely going the right direction with a Velodyne sub though. JL, SVS, HSU, Axiom, and Veldoyne are pretty much the best sub makers.

The Polk "CSR" is actually the center that matches the R-series best according to Polk. I think Amazon has it for $99
