Building miniature engines?

I want to build some kind of miniature engine, any advice/guides on this that I should read? Any place that sells a kit?

I'm really clueless as to how it works, building a really small 4/6 cylinder might be cool, I saw a video of a V8 once and if that could be something I could do without breaking the bank I'd love to 😛

I know that video of the little V8 you're talking about.

Building an engine like that will cost you a lot of money.

$5k? :Q

F*ck that! There's gotta be a cheaper solution, even a 4 cylinder would be fun 😛

Just buy a car at a police auction or something and mess with that. It'll be cheaper.

Thanks for pointing out the video, glad to know I'm sane - it was a cool little thing.

Hell yea, that thing was goddamned sweet. I think on that page it got into people building and using these little engines in models and go-karts.

The thing sounded better than most 4cyl engines out there today!

Easy there Tim.

It looks like thoes are just the engines and no much more. So you would probably have to spend a handful more money to get everything you need to get it to run.
Hell thoes kits for the full cars run into the thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars. Looks fun though.

Buy one and let us know how it goes.

Would I be able to mount the engine on some nice looking board and have it lifted up like in that V8 video you posted? I think it would be neat to have that running in itself although it seems like it wouldn't have any real use once it's done being built...
