Building First Gaming PC

Well, are you never planning to add another GPU in SLI? Because if you are, then the PSU won't suffice IMO.

The 970's only a 165w part.

In the Anandtech Review of the 970, total system load power consumption was only ~300w. Adding another 970 on top of that is still well within the capabilities of a decent 850w PSU.

@OP: everything there is a reasonable part selection, assuming you want an overclocked gaming rig. I happen to be a Toshiba fanboy, and there are other things I could quibble about, but nothing important.

If you're more of a tech enthusiast and not just a gamer, I'd lean towards a build with 16GB of RAM. You might have a reason to tinker with VMs or something, and then it'd come in handy.

So I'm about to order the rest of the parts for my new PC (already ordered CPU and motherboard), and was wondering if I could get some feedback and see if I have to switch some things out, thanks in advance.

Overall this is pretty reasonable. The things that I would adjust are:

- HDD : $133 is just crazy expensive for a 2TB drive. You can get a Toshiba 7200RPM 2TB for $72 AP. Heck, you can almost get a RAID1 pair of the Toshiba's for the price of a single WD Black.
- GPU: I think the Strix is the better GTX 970 at a similar price.
- PSU: A very nice price for that unit, but also overkill on wattage. The EVGA SuperNova NEX 650G for $60 AR is also a good deal, and it's in the right wattage range for this build.
