I am thinking leating the motherboard flat on my dest and just connect all the parts to it
To some this may seem ghetto but to a geek its cool watching the parts working lol
Will the absence of the case damage the computer in anyway?

i've got a cat so i pretty much have to have a case 🙁

though the desk drawer idea might work

why don't you make one out of those construction erector sets.. that would be cool
or out of legos... or think of something cool.

Didn't somebody do that once? I thought there was a website with a LEGO computer.

Yep I saw that. I"d rather use a case and put some quiet fans in there, I"m not sure what the cooling would be like inside a desk drawer

i think.. 95 million people have already run a pc without a case.. i've had several myself.. its no biggy. sometimes ends up staying a little cooler, sometimes not so much. Gets dusty tho. And there aint many parts working that you can see. Do yourself a favor tho and put it on an antistatic foam or somethin

Watch it work?? You mean watch the fans spin?? WTH??

😕

I think he wants to watch the electrons zip around. 😉

It's been done, heck I do it when I just want to test out a Mobo. If you want it to be a kind of "display" item, why not mount it on the wall? It would be in less danger from spills, and you could put a frame around it and call it art. You might end up with some interference from the lack of EM sheilding though - I've heard of people who couldn't open their garage door when the side of thier case was off.

eh, do it all the time. im not gonna sit there and install mobo, cdrom, etc.. on a case when im gonna take it out a few hrs later

some guy at work stood all the components in their respective places and used expanding foam and let it harden. No case, but it looked like a blob when done.
