I might switch the case to an Antec (maybe even the Sonata with its True380 just for upgradeability's sake) simply because I don't know about the quality of CM's power supplies (though they make great cases).

The hard drive with only a 2MB buffer is a problem. Get one with an 8MB buffer.

Try an NEC 3520a DVD drive for about $6 more than the Lite-On.

I'd prefer an NF3 chipset for no reason (like on the two Epox boards or the MSI Neo2), but the AV8 should be OK.

Other than that, it looks good.

Everything looks great to me except for the DVD and case/PSU. I would get the NEC 3520A as well. It has slightly faster DVD+RW/DVD-RW speeds (8x,6x, respectively). and is about a dollar more on newegg.

The case is OK, but I would get a different PSU. 350W isn't much, especially if it is a cheapo off brand (not sure of the quality of PSU).

Otherwise, great system. You are a great friend and have great taste!

1) You can't stick a socket 754 chip into a Socket 939 Motherboard. Choose one or the other.
2) You can buy 120 gigs HD for less that what you are planning to buy an 80 gig HD for. Find your deals here: http://slickdeals.net/
3) Good choice on the case and memory (Cooler Master is very good)
4) When choosing a motherboard for and AMD 64 I recommend choosing one with the Nforce 3 or Nforce 4 chipset.
5) Lastly I think paying more than $200.00 for a 6600GT is rediculous. Spend a little more and get a 6800 NU which is a much better deal at that price.

Oops! can;t believe I missed that. You will need to switch the CPU to a winchester core (socket 939). It is only a little more expensive and they should be instock.

I would stick with the 6600gt unless you can find a cheaper one. The 9800 Pros cost $200 themselves and a 6600gt would destroy them in performance. I would say it is worth the extra $20-$30.

Damn, didn't realize the socket differences. And yes, I'll be sticking with the 6600 GT and switching to a HDD with an 8MB buffer. Thanks for the help, guys!
