Building computer, doens't detect DVD drive.

Last year I build my computer, when I started up it dectected both DVD drive and SATA drive as it should be. As IDE and SATA drive. I then proceed to install WinXP just fine. This year I'm building a computer for my brother and things is a bit more difficult. It doens't detect the DVD drive and it recognize a Segate 320 GB SATA drive as an IDE hard drive. I'm using an Abit AB9 Pro. Jummper setting on DVD drive set to master, and conneted to the only IDE port as a master. Sata drive is connected to the MB to SATA port #3. I don't have a floppy drive installed.

I don't know what to do, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

according to the motherboard manual, you have to install a driver for any device connected to ide 1 by pressing F6 when installing windows. look on page 2-14, that's where i found it. also, first check to make sure that the port is set to auto in BIOS, try another ribbon cable, power is connected properly etc.
