there's a whole bunch of different wires with my power source (antec 400w), and i don't know which ones to use for which parts.
i figured out the motherboard one, but i don't know which ones to use for all the 4pin devices. like the hdd and the dvd drive and the cdrw drive and the fans, etc.
the fans have two plugs too. they're four pin. one male, one female.
help.

The small connector is for your floppy drive.
Fans sometimes use tap-offs, so you can connect one end to power the other to a device.
Keep it neat and keep the wires out of the way.

Essentially everything goes where it fits. The larger of the 4pin connectors go into all of the drives except the floppy drive. These also plug into most all case fans. The smaller 4pin connector connects to the floppy drive.

I got a question. I noticed that there is an aux connector that looks wierd on my enermax psu (I have amd) that is only for P4. Why does a P4 need this extra connector.

Rickten,

When you say "an aux connector that looks wierd on my enermax" do you mean a four pin connector about 1/4 inch on each side or a small connector coming off the PSU that looks like a male fan header at the end?

nope but I got one of those fan header things too. I looked in the manual where it describes the connectors. Are there are two connectors that it says are P4 specific. one almost looks like the power connector to the motherboard but with only one row of plugs and the other is square with 2x2 male plugs

edit: actually your description is pretty good.
