Ok here is the deal, im building a comp but im not sure about a few things want some confirmation on them. I plan to upgrade to a p4 3.0ghz with a Nvidia 6800 256mb card (not the ultra). Ive picked out
an Asus motherboard (I always go Asus because the one time i tried another brand it suxored, same reason im ditching AMD, i have personally had bad luck with them and would rather go with what I know). Im going after the p4p800 se, mainly cuz i hear its good for its price range but id like feedback on other ones that might be better for a decent price, again preferably asus. Also, considering the specs, my understanding is I will need a decent power supply, around 480+ watts. Im wondering if thats true, and I also want to know if, running with this much power and higher end stuff will i need some sort of special cooling case or would a regular case with plenty of fans be fine if im not the overclocking type?
So to recap the questions.

Better motherboard for decent price then the p4p800 se?
How much power supply will I need?
Will I need a special cooling case?

Oh yeah and because i forgot, is 512 l2 cache better then 1mb? i know thats probably a dumb question but it seems the 512kb is a couple bucks more then the 1mb everytime and i was wondering if maybe im misunderstanding the concept of size here?

P4P800 is a good board but if you can afford it, the P4C800 has the faster chipset, 875P.

480 Watts is kinda overkill, i think a good 350 watt powersupply will do unless you plan on running 6800 ultra, which i see you don't plan on doing.

1MB cache processors will be of the prescott variety, something that you want to avoid. They are hot chips and they perform in many cases worse than their predecessors. Pick a northwood processor instead, they have 512 l2 cache.

The 1Mb cache prescotts are cheaper because intel wants to push their new chips rather than the older northwoods.
