Building AMD64 3200+ system, advice please!

Hello,

I'm thinking of putting together a new system based on an AMD64 3200+ (90nm) processor. I've done a little research and have come up with the following:

AMD64 3200+
MSI K8N neo4 Platinum
Corsair value select 2x512MB
Leadtek 6600gt pci-e
Thermalright xp-90, panaflow fan
Antec true430W
Lian Li PC-61
Seagate 250GB sata HD
Sony dvdrom

I plan on doing some overclocking with this thing. I'll use it as my main pc for things such as video conversion, gaming and assorted day to day stuff.

I have a few questions regarding some of the hardware that I can't seem to find answers to:

Can anyone tell me if the MSI motherboard comes with the proper backing plate to facilitate mounting the XP-90? (Thermalright says they require a metal backing plate but the XP-90 doesn't ship with one.)

Does the Leadtek 6600gt require a pci-e power adapter (4 pin to 6 pin), meaning does it ship with one or do I need to locate one elsewhere?

Can anyone with a Lian Li case tell me if the fans come with 3 pin or 4 pin connectors?

I'm also looking for general comments on the quality of this system. Will it suit my purpose? Are there better components in the same general price range?

I sincerely thank you for any help that you can provide!

Overall the system looks great!

How much are you getting the Sony dvdrom for? If you have a few extra bucks, I would try to get a dvd-burner in case you ever wanted to burn cd's/dvd's. Somehwere around $77.00 for it.

Great selection of memory. It'll run just as good as any other kind really.

I just saw your comment on overclocking. This memory will be ok for normal use but as far as OC'ing i'm not sure how far you can get it to go. Don't expect 'too' much out of it. However, performance to price, value ram performs just as good as any other special memory you might find at a premium price when not OC'ed.

Someone will probably pop in to say get a 6800gt, but it don't look like your a ultimate guru/serious/whatever gamer, and the 6600 is the best bang for the buck if you just want a system for overall purposes.

I can't answer the mobo question or the case question, but hopefully someone has an input for that. I know a few people on the forum should own that board.

take that value ram and run a divider. Performance hit is neglible and if you run that proc at 250 fsb the hit is gone.

As far a OCing this thing goes, I'm not looking to take it to the outter limits or anything. I'm just looking for a bit of performance increase to add more bang for the buck, if you will. And, yes, I'm not a real big gamer. I just want to be able to play some new games here and there when they come out without worrying about whether the computer will even run them or not. I already have an older Sony 4x single layer DVD burner which suits my needs just fine for now. I am just looking to add a DVDrom for a little faster ripping speed.

Supposedly AMD is going to cut prices around Valentine's Day, so if you can wait two weeks, you might be able to save some cash.
