anybody try to build their own foosball table. i just bought one on ebay for 76 bucks and am planning to use it as a template and for its misc parts. im thinking about rebuilding the table using acrylic to make it clear and look cool. i really dont forsee this as a major project b/c all the cuts are pretty much straight. anybody have any opinions on this project and also working with acrylic.

The rods are going to be costly. If you know the specs, get a machine shop to do it.

Wow thats better be some really thick acrylic or its going to crack easily.

btw careful with the rods, we've been through a few sets and the chrome keeps peeling off.

seems dangerously weak to me too. super thick acrylic maybe. i've seen a grand piano made from super thick plexi.

u think plexiglass would be better - i was orignally thinking about just doing it out of real wood since i hate particle board but then i thought i might try some other material besides wood.

I would make it out of the most solid wood you can afford if I were you if you're really going to play it. We play at least 3 games a day at work and it takes a beating (we had to get some thicker men...they kept shattering) but its starting to get a little shaky at the seams and stuff.

that has to be a really cheap table then - my friends and i used to play for hrs on the foosball table at my fraternity and despite playing really hard on it - it pretty much remained in good condition - but yeah maybe wood would be the best and easiest way to go -
