Building access cards... Can they be painted?

I'm just curious. My work uses these cards and I'm tired of the same ugly white... I was thinking about using vinyl dye to make mine black, but curious if anybody's done that?

I doubt it... I can just "lose" the card if anything comes up...

Never seen it done, but it shouldn't change the functioning of the card.

Why not just cover it with colored tape?

Lead base paint may mess with them alittle.

If I can scan mine in while it's still in my wallet, I don't see why paint would hurt.

Yeah it shouldn't be a problem to dye it. I just keep mine between 2 other badges so you don't see it.

My dad is supposed to have his picture on his, but the last time he got it replaced the printer was broken so his is blank.
He drew a crude self-portrait on it.
