No you didn't mess anything up :). You can leave it as is, it's just that personally I'd prefer to leave it in AHCI mode only because I wouldn't be using RAID anyway

Anyway I can get you to explain what makes them different? Only if it can be shortened. I don't want to ask you to type out a book or anything!

Basically RAID enables the RAID functionality of the controller and requires the Intel RAID driver whereas normal AHCI treats the controller as a normal one with independent drives that uses the standard msahci driver. There isn't really a functional difference between them other than the driver that they use.
