It would of been really helpful if you added the product names to the descriptions. ;)


Corsair XMS is a waste of money for an A64 with an onboard memory controller. There is no performance gain unless you want to overclock. Even then I think there would be no troubles keeping the latencies tight while overclocking. If you wanted to overclock to that extent I wouldnt get anything less than PC3500.

So you would be saving over 100 dollars on RAM if you got the Value Select RAM which can go towards a better video card.

thanks for your suggestions. I will go with the ram and dvd-rom you guys suggested. How are the other parts of my build? any suggestions there?

They are all the exact same reference model from Nvidia. Same cooling solution, same build, same parts. Except some come with packages and extended warranties.

I believe eVGA and XFX's comes with Doom 3 and a one year warranty, and PNY comes with a 3 year warranty and service once you register the product on their web site. I heard a lot of problems with XFX mentioned on this web site though, so I'm a little hesitant to recommend one from XFX.
