Alright so my friend wants to me to build him a pc that he can hook up to his 42" lcd (nothing great, a RCA i believe). He just wanted to be able to play movies, surf the web, and maybe light gaming. Here are the specs, let me know if it's too much or too little.

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-MA78G-DS3HP - Has on board video with HDMI out, seems good enough.
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma 2.7GHz
RAM: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2
PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2

The other parts I believe are pretty standard, I just wanted to hear comments on the core items. Let me know!!

The MSI KA780G has 128Mb DDR3 1333MHz IGP side-port which may boost your video over the Gigabyte mobo (they have a side-port version, too).

The MSI only has ALC888 audio - the Gigabyte board you selected has ALC889A (which provides a 'Protected Audio Pathway' for Blu-Ray and Dolby).

And, yup. The HD4350 would probably be roughly equal to the AMD 780g with side-port IGP.

edit: Nevermind ... The MSI mobo seems to support every AMD CPU (even Phenom IIs which have yet to be released) but they do not list the X2 7750 Kuma. See here.

I'd email them if you are interested - they support the other Kuma and the 125w Phenom IIs.

X2 4850e (2.6GHz, 45W max TDP) - much cooler & plenty fast for the stated uses.

Add the 4670 if your friend wants even light gaming to be more than a slideshow.

go with the onboard if the onboard can handle it. It'll be whole lot quiter than using a video card.

thanks for the info...anyone else?
Sounds like a job for a Dell Vostro with an ATI HD4650 card.
