I've saved up $1100 for a new computer to replace my current one, which is a PII 350 that has no AGP slot :). I intend to use it for CAD work (Microstation and Form-Z) at college, for working in Photoshop, and for playing Quake 3.

I'm going to run Win98SE and Slackware 8 (2.4.5 kernel) on this. I already have a CD-RW, 3com network card, and mouse, and I don't intend to overclock.

Here's my parts list:

Motherboard: EPOX EP-8KHA+
Case: ENLIGHT EN-7237
CPU: Althon XP 1600+ RETAIL
Hard Drive: IBM EIDE 40GB 7200RPM
Memory: CRUCIAL MICRON 256MB 2100 DDR
Sound Card: HERCULES FORTISSIMO II
Floppy Drive: TEAC
Keyboard: generic 104-key PS2
Video card: VGA LEADTEK Geforce3 TI200 64MB
Speakers: NONE (I use headphones only)

Nonconductive CPU Shim: $10
____________

TOTAL: $708.99 including shipping.

NEXT: I saw that I can get a used, 1 year old Dell Ultrascan P1110 Trinitron monitor "for $450 or best offer". I've read reviews about it (I think it is actually a Sony G500) which were extremely complimentary, but what price is fair if it's in working order?
I will be able to see this before deciding whether to buy it, as the person selling it lives near me.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance
