my sx830 box came in good shape , the foam on one side was busted up a bit, but the case was fine, it took awhile to figure out how to use the drive rails ( I hate reading intructions) no extra tape, but the tape holding parts inside the case was messed up, from dropping the ox somewhere I guess....are the fans 80 mm?

Yeah, they are 80mm fans. Just make sure if you add more to add the same amount to the front that are in the back for even airflow. You could also take one off the back and put it up front and not have to buy anything.

Sometimes (Especially with Computers) the easiest solution turns out to be the hardest one to find and is right under you nose. That's what this forum is all about, taking an idea and pushing it to its logical (and cheapest) conclusion.

My 1030B has a small defect too: it has an indent on the rear bottom corner of the panel onto which the mb should be attached . I was worried that my mb might not be able to fit, but I installed it alright.

It puzzled me since the exterior was perfect. So, could it be that all these cheap cases that onvia is selling all have this kind of (none-signifigant) imperfection?

ok folks maybe you can help me out. here's my sx830 story:

I ordered this about a month ago from Amazon and it finally arrived yesterday. Like a lot of you it was not in good condtion. The box was in very bad shape and it even looked like the box was opened once before. Looking at the stickers on the box, it seems like this was shipped UPS Next Day from Ingram to Amazon then shipped to me (in Hawaii) via USPS Priority Mail.

Anyways as I start to remove the case I can tell that things are very wrong. The styrofoam on top is broken into many pieces. The top half of the front panel is not where it is supposed to be. Intead there are pieces of broken plastic that was once part of the panel. The left button of the front panel has broken off and is stuck in the case. The top panel also has a crack on the left corner. I remove the bottom panel and it too has some of the plastic parts that connect to the case cracked.

So I call Amazon and the CSR agrees to send me a replacement with a prepaid mailing sticker. I think ok fine I can still use this case without the panels and when the replacement comes I'll exchange the bad panels and send it back. Then I get an email telling me my replacement order has been canceled. What the hell do I do now? I can't send it back I already broke the metal guards for the drive bays. Will Antec replace the panels? Anyone have any ideas?

Anybody order the SX830 from Onvia last week? I ordered last Friday and have not received... even more disturbing is that my order status does not say shipped, and that Onvia is now out of stock on the case.

I need that frickin case to build my system!

Just a thought, if you really want some QUIET PS and Fans as well as HD enclosures, check out QuietPC. I've installed a PS for a friend and it sure it silent. Sometimes you doubt if it's even on.

And if you compare this with the PCPowerCooling QuietPS product, PCP sounds like a monster.

Shiroma--

I don't know if Antec will replace the panels or not. You could try calling them?

What I would do is make Amazon send you a pre-paid label anyway. Take all the pieces of the case and shove it all back in the box. Send the box back to Amazon and get a full refund. Then buy the case somewhere else. I guess onvia is OOS, but someone posted a bunch of links in another thread to places where you can get it for around the same price.

If I were you though I would definitely not mess around with Amazon. Get your money back!!

Shiroma, I started this thread awhile back, Provantage.com is showing stock, click the link then search for SX1030.

I would send the item DIRECTLY back to Amazon and cancel the order, as I would imagine you will never see another SX1030 from them. They strung me along for over a week, then canceled my order.

Living in Hawaii, I would imagine they rape and sodomize you on shipping so finding a case in stock at a price you are willing to pay is essential. I hope this helps somewhat in your quest for a case.

Speaking of shipping horror stories, one of the guys at work used to work at FedEx, and said that a shower door manufacturer used to ship *shower doors* through them--packed the same way as you would get at Home Depot (minimal packaging). He said every box that came through, when you picked it up, sounded like a box full of broken glass (which it was). Yet the company continued to ship that way..........

unsickle: I ordered an sx830 thursday night, so it should have shipped friday. At the time it said in stock, but my status is still 'in procesing'. I wonder what the time frame will be for the backorder.

Just a note that despite the fact that Onvia shows "Out of Stock," I ordered the SX1030B yesterday morning and it shipped a few hours later. Don't know about the other models though.

I did the same thing.....I called this morning and was told that it is actually not in stock....The CSR said they showed 5 in Texas so she would force ship one from there...

I would reccomend you call Onvia and ask about your order...
