I FOUND A BETTER DEAL AND CANCELED THE Amazon.com ORDER. Check out this review of the SX830, including Photos. Click the photo for a larger view.

Here is a review of the SX1030.

Both cases are intended for a SOHO as a server, but it has some great features that are explained in the above reviews.

Back to the deal, Onvia has the SX830 for $80.47 with FREE SHIPPING
Here is the direct link for the SX830.

And the SX1030 is $91.49 with FREE SHIPPING.
Here is the direct link to the SX1030.

Here is a direct link to the SX1030B, which is the Black Case.

Both cases are listed as IN STOCK and both have free shipping. As I said above I canceled my unshipped Amazon order and went with the SX1030. It's more than I need but for $11.02 difference it was the better deal. Sorry for the confusion, the Amazon deal was ok, but this is simpler and more likely to ship. I also originally purchased the SX1030 (OEM) from Amazon and they canceled my order. I have always had good service from Onvia, so I look forward to getting my case from them.

And a nod to OGN for the Onvia idea. I started looking there last week and the Antec's were not in stock. Hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Thanks a lot for the link to that review Maverickn I almost bought the 1030 yesterday from Amazon with the same coupon deal (it's $103) and was going to post a question about how the two compare but that review you sent me to did an excellent job of showing the differences. Now I'm going to get the 830 instead. Thanks again!

Just a note to those of you that ordered the sx1030 from Amazon they are cancelling orders. I got an e-mail today from them and they said they cannot get the sx1030 anymore. I went ahead and ordered the sx830 I hope they don't do the same with this case. Amazone really sucks, the last 4 orders I placed (I had to use those free gc's) never shipped on time.

I couldn't find the SX1030 at Amazon though. All I could find was a case labeled "Antec ATX Full Tower Case 10-Bay with 300W Power Supply (Beige)" which might not be the SX1030. At Onvia, this same label refers to the KS180 and sells for about the same ($102.55) as the one at Amazon. KS180 is an old design which is very much inferior to the SX1030.

You can get the SX830 at chaseshop.com for $85. If you pay with a Chase credit card, you can take 5% off and it comes to $81. They have free shipping too. I got my SX1030 (shipped to me yesterday) for $83.5 - $4.2 = $79.3 which was a steal but it seems they just increased the price of the SX1030 to $96 now.

Just watch out. If your ordr lists this item as in stock, when it isn't, Onvia will just cancel the order, without an email notification. I ran into this a few weeks ago. Their response? "Just keep checking the web site."

I ordered the SX830 from amazon last monday after my order for the KS282 was cancelled and they told me they have it in stock and the order should be finalized tonight, so it should be ship tomorrow.

During the call two funny things happened:
the lady from CS asked me where I got the 1-800 number and i replied that i got from a friend and asked her why the number is not on the website, she said it's somewhere around the site.
Second thing was that the offered me to pay only half of the "free shipping". :)
I hope the case is here next week cause I need a new case , NOW!

Does anyone know exactly what the difference is between the 830 and the 1030. I looked at the reviews posted by maverick and they are the same case except for a few minor differences in options. I know the 830 has less 5.25 drives and less hard drive space, so how many hard drives and cdroms can you fit in the 830? I know I want atleast 2 of each which I think it can do but if anyone has the case could they tell me exactly what the deal is? I don't mind paying an extra $10 for the 1030 but the review said that this would be an overkill for most users and that the extra hard drive space actually got in the way. Any thoughts?

StonyThug, I would go with the SX1030, since you want to add two Hardrives and two CD-ROMs. The main reason for this is the 1030 has 4 5.25 bays to the 830's 3, which will let you space your CD drives to keep them cooler. I am told this will add life to the drive as well. Secondly and most importantly, the 1030 is set up with a 80mm fan that blows DIRECTLY onto your hardrives, eliminating any need for separate cooling. Add to that the locking front (albeit flimsy) door and the option of getting it in Black, SX1030B, and I think you will find you will like the 1030 better. IMHO

PS I like the way the 1030 is set up for external 3.5 drives. The 1030 has a removable bay to access your FD and/or Zip drive, the 830 incorporates it into the bottom of the 5.25 bay. Look at the side by side views under Apu's 830 review and you can see the difference in the 3.5 bay designs. Hope this helps.

Ordered 11/16/00 and I now have a tracking number from Onvia. I purchased the SX1030 from them, had my head up my ass cuz I didn't order the black one. I was so happy to find the case with free shipping I really don't care. I would crap if I moved the case and scratched the black one so its a non-issue. Anyway, Onvia came through on this one.

I cancelled my amazon.com order and ordered one on 11/17 from onvia. No tracking number yet though. Where do they ship these cases from?

I ordered the Antec mid-tower(forget the model #)from Amazon on November 5.
Never shipped, no email. Finally got a response from email customer
support which said "we really don't know when it will ship."

Cancel the order on November 11, order a SX830. Still no shipment.
Send a nasty email. Amazon changes shipping to 2nd-day on Nov 16.

On November 17, my order is now showing delayed 1-2 weeks. Call
the 1-800 # from the nasty email response. They really have no
idea when the case will ship. Ask about the SX1030, same response,
can't promise anything. Both cases show that they ususually ship
in 2-3 days on the web site, and are still quite orderable.
Tell the customer rep to cancel the order. Tell them if they want
my business, they better get their act together on stock information.

Go down to local computer store, buy an Apex Super Case full-tower
for $69.00. I am happy. Better deal anyway. Even if I have to order
a better power supply, I am still happy.

longhorn: my situation is almost identical to yours -- they got a nasty-gram from me as well. I hope they take all of these dissapointed customers that have cancelled orders from them into account when they pick their next case distributor. This much variance in expected shipping times is ridiculous in this day and age...
