Read somewhere dual-socket A 760-based boards will be available in March/April. I gotta have this system built before May because my current PC is going to the gf for graduation present in late may, and I have to have mine built to replace it.

Wishlist would be a dual-socket A 1.4ish ghz Tbirds, with DDR ram, 512mb.

whats the likelihood I'll be able to build this by April? Probably going to just get another 40gig maxtor 7200rpm drive like the one I have now and do a 80gig raid 0 stripe.

anyway.. I'll keep my fingers crossed

well i bet you probably CAN't get them before March. AMD is having problems reducing heat. (technically)

The SMP talk has cooled lately but the two confirmed so far are the MSI K7D Turbo and also the Tyan Lions, both with the 760MP chipset. Others rumoured are an Abit and a QDI board.
March/April could be pushing it....

I personally wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see Dual SOcket A's until the palamino(and rumored extra l2 cache) come out. The reduced heat/extra l2 cache should help a dual setup quite a bit.

That being said, dual t-birds would wreck havoc on case cooling. ;)

damn.. thanks for wrecking my hopes. :(

I HATE building a system or buying a component when something WAY better is JUST around the corner. yeah, I know, something better is always around the corner, but I can't give away my system, then "wait" 3 or 4 months with no PC, I'll have to build a single proc one now, and then kick myself 3 months later when the duallies are available. :|

Here's what u could do... get a lower end mobo and duron. OC for now. Save the extra. Once that sweet time comes sell mobo and duron and get the dual mobo set-up :)

Btw, doing RAID 0 on two 40gb drives won't yield you 80gb. It's still going to be 40.

AMD really has a techincal difficulty with heat of Athlon.

That's why they are pushing back the schedule of releasing Palomino.

They are really in trouble now. So that could explain why they are speeding up the Clawhammer project.
