Building a new System!! Need Advice!! :)

Finally assembled!! I didn't buy after market cooler as i was not going to overclock, instead i bought another gskill 4gb so total 8 gb now.

But i am thinking if i did the right thing because while i was playing gta 4 on max i was getting like avg of 45fps, and the temp of the cpu went up to 68c :\ is this ok?
on idle the cpu temp shows 35c-40c.

should i be worrying about the temp? 68c-70c on load.. is fine?
 
Your temps are within reason however it just depends on what you want. You can have MUCH lower temps with a hyper 212+ *even lower with a better than stock fan*. But you are in the safe zone.

I would run some stability testing programs, something like LinX or IBT to make sure you are 100% stable and to watch your temps.

If you get to 80C in either of those programs then stop running them and think about remounting or cleaning the heatsink/cpu and applying thermal paste.

I have seen a lot of people install these push pin heatsinks in incorrectly and it has effected there temps. Good thermal paste can also lower them 🙂

For your ram, were you run 2x4gb sticks then?
 
68C is fine with the stock cooler, not to worry 🙂. Have you tested it in Prime95? (in-place large FFT test for max power consumption)

I will download prime95 and test it, will update with the results!
 
Rahulmax - 4x2gb OR 2x4gb. It's harder on the IMC and harder to stabilize running 4 sticks. It's much easier when running 2 sticks. If running 4 sticks that are 2 gigs each, did you make sure that all 4 sticks were the same? Even when buying 2 sets of 2x2gb kits, there can be differences.

Also if you are going to do stability testing do it the right way and use either LinX or IntelBurnTest as it's a MUCH more efficient program than prime95.

Oops... sorry.. i have 4gb x2 , that means 2 sticks of 4gb each!!


yeah i'll be using one of these to test as i downloaded prime 95 and couldn't understand a thing 😛
 
Good to hear that you have 4gbx2, thats much better!

As far as p95, once the program is open simply click "small ftt" to check the cpu stability, aka the first box, and hit ok. It will then start running.
Edit: But still, LinX and IntelBurnTest are better programs.

Just tried intel burn test!!

I ran it 3 times.. on standard!!

1st time all 4 cores with 100% usage the temp went max to 68c

2nd 74c

3rd 79c

i personally don't like these temp. :\
 
Run it on "ALL" or maximum since you have 8gb of ram.

Let it run for about 30mins minimum and report pack with all of your temps, including the one that says "package" temps.

Your temps will be higher with a stock intel heat sink, i told you that. Anything under 80c is reasonable, personally I have 60c load with 1.4vcore 4.5ghz on a hyper 212+.

For 25 bucks, grab a hyper 212+ 🙂
 
No clue what my ambient temps are, it's probably like 70 degrees F in my place now. Although my hdd is at 28c which is 82 degrees F, so maybe its 82 or so in here, no clue though.

My cpu fan is running at 1100 rpm is this normal? Also my case fans ie one on the back and one on the side are running at 500-600 rpm..

my previous stock cpu fan ran at around 2100 rpm as far as i remember, i didn't have any case fan's though so i dunno about them!!
 
In the bios you can set the cpu fan stuff to "disabled" to run at 100%. I don't recall the rpm of the stock fan though.

Generally the higher the rpm, the more the cfm, the lower the temps.
 
1100 RPM is fine for the stock Intel cooler. You can control the fan ramp in the BIOS like fastamdman said, but since your temps are OK, I wouldn't bother. Temperatures that are "hot" by human standards are fine for a CPU or GPU.
 
O.M.G so much improvement since my last rig.. can't believe my eyes!! worth the money!! Gta 4 on max settings except view distance on 50 , avg. fps = 66.5 🙂
resident evil 5 everything set to max directx10 , avg fps = 122 🙂

i know my resolution is 1240x1024 but still 😛

I bought a hyper 212 evo 🙂 loving it so far!! idle temps are around 28-30c and loads are never above 50 😀 unlike stock cooling which was reaching 65c-70c

Just did the intel burn test again with hyper 212 evo

ran on maximum

highest temp on 100% usage was 51 🙂

whopping decrease in cpu temps.. 17 degree's difference is awesome!!
 
Now i am worried about the GPU temp.

did the furmark gpu stress test the max temp after 3 mins of the starting of the test the temp was hovering around 82c-86c :\

the gpu fan was @51% , there is a case intake fan on the side which is sucking fresh air in directly onto the gpu!!

what do you think about the temp? zotac gtx 560 ti.. what more can i do to keep the temps down?

86C is a perfectly normal temp (actually pretty good) for a GPU under Furmark. Furmark is designed to burn the card as much as possible and many GPUs will quickly hit the high 90's.
