Building a new system, looking for a good raid mobo for Duron or XP's

I sold a computer to my brother in law and sister a year and a half ago. Somehow it got a power surge even thought it was plugged into a surge protector. All the "capacitors" or whatever they are called 😛 were swollen with junk coming out of them, so i ditched the board. Also the processor was dead on a variety of computers, and the ram, etc. So pretty much I had to tear apart my second rig and stick most of the pieces into theirs.


Now Im looking to rebuild mine. I have 2- sticks of DDR ram, and really want another 2 IDE slots (I wont be doing anything raid with them, but my damn promise ultra card seems to lag up my other system and has had problems recently.


Any suggestions would be wonderful! 🙂

Next time contact the manufacturer of the surge protector. I had a surge come thru the phone line connected to a surge protector and then into my pc and wiped out the modem.

The surge protector company had me send them the surge protector, and take the PC to a PC Repair shop to have the whole system checked and modem replaced. The surge protector company picked up the whole tab, plus they sent me a new surge protector. They have you send in the surge protector so they cabn verify that it was hit by a surge.

No Im actually replacing everything and giving them the parts for free. If they are able to get any money through renters insurance I might be willing to take payment from that, but they're family, I do good by them. Im only using used parts because Im on a small timeframe (this weekend) and they needed it fixed right away. Eventually I will upgrade it for them again anyway.
