I've been trying to find good parts for my next PC, and this is what I've come up with so far:
MB: EP-9NPA+Ultra
CPU: Athlon64 3800x2
Video: XFX Geforce6800GS 256MB
My problem is this: I have an Ultra 500W X-Connect modular power supply. I read a few reviews on various websites and they rated it rather highly, so I ordered one thinking I had gotten a good deal. Now I find after looking around on a few forums that the majority of users seem to think it's a piece of trash.
I'm reluctant to use the Ultra PSU now, and am wondering if I could just stick with my trusty Antec Truepower430. The problem is the Antec only uses the old 20-pin power connection, and has a max rating (if I remember right) of 20A on it's 12v rail. Is that going to be enough power to run the system above, with at least two hard drives and two optical drives? I might also attempt some overclocking, and am toying with the idea of splurging for the 7800 video card. Would I be better off just selling the Ultra and buying another new PSU?
