I'm building a new PC, and there's a few things i'm not sure about. I'd really appretiate it if you guys gave me your opinions on what i should get. Here's what i think i'm gonna buy:
I'm building it with a focus on gaming performance, if that's relevant..
Athlon 64 3500
MSI Neo2 Platinum
Radeon x800 Pro w.vivo (which i'm going to softmod to an x800 XT)
Audigy 2 (which i already own)
I want to buy 1gb of RAM, but i don't know what i should get. someone told me that there's no point in getting duel channel as it has almost no performance gain on AMD systems.. someone else said it might because the 3500 has a duel channel memory controller... but basicly i need you guys to tell me what the deal is there.. and if duel channel is faster, which should i buy?
I also have a 160gb s-ata drive, but i want another so that i can use the 160gb i already have for storing music etc, and the other drive to run windows and my programs and games from. i was thinking of buying two 80gb drives and running them in Raid 0 instead of a single 160gb drive. good idea?
I'm also not sure about the mobo as i don't know much about them, but this site says that the MSI Neo2 Platinum is the best, and it has 4 s-ata connections too.. as you can see i own a nice sound card so i don't need integrated audio however.. so i'm open to suggestions if you guys think that another board would be better for my system. and it would be nice to have firewire also..
i'm not sure about the case either.. i was thinking of getting a thermaltake system.. maybe the tsunami dream (http://www.thermaltake.com/Xas...e/tsunami/bwa/bwa.htm) or another one of their cases.. but i don't know much about cases either so i'm open to any suggestions... i read jpeyton's system buyers guide and for high end systems he/she recommended a lian-li and also that i buy my own power supply.. if i did that i'd probably get the 68$ enermax noisetaker.. but it seems like that is much more expensive and i dont know if its worth it all.. i don't think i'll really want to overclock seeing as its all so fast anyway and i dont trust myself much to overclock with these pricey parts..
so... i'm spending a lot of money on this, and i really want everything to be balanced, i dont want any one component bottlenecking another you know? if this was your system what would you get? (thanks a lot for reading this!!)
