Building a New PC For Mom, Should I do 64, or 32 win 7

My mom wants me to build her a new computer so I agreed. I'm pretty much rebuilding the whole thing for her, while keeping the price pretty low (under 600). She mostly plays those novelty games and surfs the internet. You know the games like Mahjong, all those 10 dollar to 20 dollar games you can buy at walmart. But she stressed in this build that she would like to play some of the more modern games too. LOL no idea what but she said games like mine. LOL. No problem I said I will build you a mid level system then.

Anyway should I just go for Win 7 32 bit or the 64 bit version. I have the 64 bit version myself and love it. But when it comes to windows and things that might go wrong, she has no clue. Anyway this is the system I will build her. right now Im going for the 32 bit version of windows. But I will change if you think that 64 bit is the way to go.

Yeah thats what I figured. As long as all those 20 dollar games will work under the 64 bit system then I guess I should go for those.

I mean she has like 60 of those games its crazy.

With the games she will be playing, especially being low priced walmart games, ie games from the bargan bin, there could be an issue running them in 64 in that they wont run. The old games may have to be replaced with updated versions 64-able. SOme might not install at all the W7 enviroment, 32 or 64. If some loved games wont install in the 64 W7, there may be one unhappy gamer.

With the exception of drivers and very unique programs like anti virus, nearly anything will run on a 64 bit version of Windows if it will run on the 32 bit version. If an application will run on the 32 bit version, it's almost certain that it will work on the 64 bit version. If it won't run on the 64 bit version, it almost certainly won't work on that version of Windows period, 32 or 64 bit. Compatibility really is as close to a non issue as it can be, 64 bit is backwards compatible and works with pretty much everything.

Something to take note: With user account control enabled, some older games will not work properly even if you click the allow button every time it comes up. I found that by disabling UAC, they all worked perfectly fine.(My specific issue was some games in the C&C The First Decade pack would not open at all, and others would not work online at all. Disabling UAC fixed all of the problems completely) I suggest disabling UAC if you intend to use any older applications.
