Building a new machine and need input?

I am putting together a new computer for gaming and I need some input. My current wish list is:

Case: undecided, need recommendations

Powersupply: either seasonic s12 series 500 watt or OCZ 600w powerstream

Motherboard: MSI K8N Neo4 Plat. nForce4 Ultra Athlon 64 skt939 DDR ATX

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (san diego core)- Would really appreciate input on this one.
Are the higher end AMD chips worth the cost?

RAM: OCZ 2GB kit DDR PC-4000 Plat.- too late got these today.

Video Card: eVGA e-Force 7800 GTX. Big question- Should I hold out for ATI or not?

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 160gb w/8mb buffer. Can go smaller or bigger,
but price is nice per mb with this size.

Any input is appreciated. THX

The Antec P180 is a really nice case, everyone that has one seems to love it.

Definately the Seasonic - they are well known to be excellent, quiet power supplies. 500w is more than enough.

Motherboard: MSI K8N Neo4 Plat. nForce4 Ultra Athlon 64 skt939 DDR ATX

Good board

For $100 more than the 3700+, I don't think it is worth it. If you want to spend that much you may as well go dual core.

Why hold out for ATI? The 7800GTX is at least as fast (if not faster), cheaper, and available.

Good drive, for the price difference I would go for the Samsung 200GB drive though. Less than $10 more for an extra 40GB.

the PSU you choose is overkill
the MOBO you choose is good but there is better and cheaper out there
4000 san diego isnt worth it get a 3700 san diego and overclock it or go dual core
the ram you got is excellent
the ATI card are horriable IMO i would get a 7800 gt dont go GTX not that much better then gt rights now in games
i would try to get a HD with 16 MB cache now

this is what i would recomend

Case: I got the thermaltake kandalf. It's pricy, but both me and a friend of mine agree that it's well worth the hefty pricetag. As for the video card, actually, I would hold out for now, but not for ATI. Wait for the new 512 MB 7800 Ultra and get it. I read somewhere it'll be out in a few weeks. I got the 4000+ SD, but I agree, the 3700 is a better value. you only lose 200 mhz, and it has almost the same OCing potential.

what advantages are there to a dual core? i am even more unsure about my cpu now. 3700, 4000, dual core- ah the madness.
