Ive had my computer for about 2.5 years now and I think its time for an upgrade. I want to build a computer for about 2000$ Canadian. I want this to be a gaming system capable of running DX10 and windows Vista. So far im looking at the following:

Core 2 Duo E6600 - Or should I get something else? Dont really intend on OCing
2gb Ram - DDR2? What speed. and what brand?
DX10 Card? - 8800 a good purchase? GTX or GTS? or should I wait for ATI equiv?
Mobo - Totally lost in this category, what is a good mobo?
Power Supply - What would be a good power supply? OCZ, Antec.. How many watts etc?
Hard Drive - Looking for a large and fast hard drive. Options?
Monitor - Looking for a high res, large LCD, maybe 21 - 24 inches.
And what ever else I need 😛

Thx for your help.

Mobo: P5N32-E SLI, P5W DH Dlx, P5B-E, P5N-E SLI, GA-965P-DS3, GA-965P-S3 (listed in order of price)
PSU: Seasonic S12 or M12, Corsair 520W or 620W
HDD: Seagate 7200.10 320GB, Samsung HD400LJ 400GB, WD5000YS
Monitor: Dell 2007FPW, BenQ, Samsung... etc
uh, what else do you need? case? optical drive?

I had the same questions for the same budget a little under a month ago. Here's the thread. Some of the advice I got will probably help you.

Although I didn't need a monitor, so if you need to spend on that I guess you'd have to go a bit cheaper than my rig. Though I spent more than I really had to on the case. Anyways, who knows, sales and rebates seem to shift daily. You might be able to find a deal.
