Prices are in Canadian, also do you think i should wait a bit longer for the Athlon 4 desktop CPUs?
Anyways take a look below at what i got tell me if there is anything you would change. or another concerns you would have with the system. Thx.

$319 AMD® K7 Thunderbird? 1.4G w/266Mhz FSB BOX (Socket A)

$75 256MB PC2100 266Mhz 184pin DDR
$255 Gigabyte GA-7DXR AMD761 1AGP4x/5PCI/3DDR w/Sound Socket A & UDMA/100 Raid
$279 WinFast GeForce2 Pro 64MB 5.5ns RAMDAC AGP4x Retail w/TV
$85 Creative Labs Soundblaster Live! DE 5.1 PCI OEM
$325 Western Digital WD800BB 80.0GB 2MB HD
$17 Panasonic 1.44MB Floppy drives
$95 Pioneer 40x16x DVD ROM drive (Slot)
$189 Yamaha CDRW 40x16x10x CD Writer bare drive
$1149 Samsung 22" 1200NF .25 2048x1536

The only things I'd change are:

Video- Hercules Kyro II

Soundcard- Turtlebeach: Santa Cruz

It's just personal preference. I can't stand nVidia's crappy 2D output and the SBLive is really old technology.

I know a lot of people have strong feelings about sound cards --
But the step from the onboard sound to a Live! is not significant -- Either do what Electric Amish suggests or use the onboard sound.
(This assumes that the onboard sound is a Creative Labs 128 -- which I think it is)

$325 Western Digital WD800BB 80.0GB 2MB HD

Why get the latest / greatest at full price? Just get a 40gb for now and get an 80gb when it gets reasonable. HD prices fall fast, so why pony up now? You can also use the proceeds from your 40gb sale to finance the 80gb hd later.
