BUILDING A NEW COMP: need some help choosing some parts and critiquing setup

hi i know its a bit much but hey my computer right now is such crap that i deserve to build a new one. Would like some feedback to get a feel for what I should be looking for. Thanks for helping. cap is around 3000?

needed:
processor, motherboard, memory, video card/s, hdd/s, etc?

used for:
large databases and datamining with SQL Server, trading programs with streaming data, multithread programs, fast hdd access.

extra if you have time to type more:
cooling and soundproofed/ing computer options (this isnt in the budget)

and if you really are bored:
same as above but with cap of 3000
same as above but with no cap.

lol thanks and have fun.
please make sure the parts you list are compatible with each other

So basically we take out 90% of the work in building your own computer so you can sit there and watch us "have fun"?
If you were that lazy, at least look at the anantech guides or even on the top pages of GH which have numerous "critique my rig" threads.

sorry i didnt mean to come off like that. cant find anyone with qx5600 rigs.

i have a basic idea and have bunch of parts saved in a wishlist but am confused with what would be the best solution and compatibilty.

mostly its the motherboard and memory
i do not know what CAS ratings are.. can you explain?

need a good and reliable motherboard and memory (2gb sticks?)
im willing to splurge for the best of motherboard and memory.

im leaning towards just getting the Quad core processor but am still open to hearing both sides. quad core or the duo extreme?

planning to have
two raptors on raid 0
lian li case
zalman 9500 (or 9700?)

EDIT: i forgot to mention i already have a 30 inch lcd monitor that prolly needs dual dvi. so rec what setup for vid cards i should get?

and just to make sure:
large databases and datamining with SQL Server, trading programs with streaming data, multithread programs, fast hdd access.

since you use sql and do a lot of multitasking quad core is the way to go. Raid 0 is dangerous if your data is important, aslo how big are your databases. You might want one raptor as your main drive and maybe 3 500 gig drives in raid 5 (wiht a dedicated raid card) for you databases (or if they are only in the 10's of gigs and not hundreds then 3 raptors in raid 5 would be very fast). Depending on the size of your databases and if all the programs you use are compatible I would suggest vista 64 and 4 gigs of pc 6400 memory (any brand will do and timing shouldn't be that important). I would probably go with a 680i board as they have the highest likelihood of being compatible with the newer 1333mhz quad cores that are coming (if you don't think you would upgrade your processor and you don't care about gaming then a good 975 or even 965 board would be ok). As for cooling check the front page at anandtech, that thermalright is pretty impressive and will let you get close to silent if you want.

im not sure why some people say raid 0 is dangerous with raptors?

i heard someone say its like only a 1% increase chance of failure but wouldnt see why it would...

whats raid 5?

RAID 0 stores half the data on one drive, and half on the other. If either drive fails, all of your data is gone. You have double the chance of dataloss than the "average" user.

For the most part, business machines use RAID 1, 0+1, or 5 if anything. Data redundancy is important if your information is critical.

how is this?

How is this? please keep in mind the things i mentioned about using MS SQL
