My parents are in dire need of a new computer.

Here is the setup I am considering if you have any other suggestions for bargan basement please advise.

Processor-600-800 mhz Duron (anything is better then their 166 Pentium)
Mobo-Please advise on a Socket A with onboard video and sound prefered and how much. If I can't get onboard video then I'll get a cheap video card. All they need is to make Solitaire and email look good.
Memory-128 mb RAM Crucial CL2
Hard Drive-Please advise for 10-15 gig and how much.
Video Card-Onboard
Sound Card-Onboard
Modem-I can find one dirt cheap.
Case-$50 from CrapUsa don't need much with power source.
Proc Cooler-$20 (max)
Floppy Drive-$20
CD-Rom-I am thinking someone I have seen for like $30 after rebate at BB
Monitor(?)-May keep the one they have.
Please advise on a Socket A with onboard video and sound prefered and how much.

If I am missing anything please tell me.

You should take a look at the Asus A7VL-VM. It's a micro-ATX board, and it is recommended in Anandtech's Value System Guide. I believe necxdirect.com has it for around $99.

you shouldn't use cheap power supplies with athlons, they are very sensitive about needing lots of clean power. my other piece of advice is don't do it, they will innundate you with calls every time something goes wrong.

Also check out Microstar's MSI-6340. It's a Micro-ATX board with everything on it, 3PCI, a couple of DIMMS and an AGP slot for added upgradability. It's got a VIA sound chip and integrated S3 Savage4 video. Coupled with MSI's fantastic implementation of VIA's KT133 chip, it's a solid buy at around $90. This is the board I used for a friend. Good buy.

As far as hard drives go, you really can't go wrong these days. Just pick up any old drive from one of the bigger names - though shelling out a little more on 7200rpm is worth it, I think.

Yeah, you can't beat the Duron 750 in price-performance. It's rather insane how inexpensive that CPU is. AmdEmAll has some good recommendations. I'll have to check out that MSI board.

This is exactly what I am trying to combat. It seems like every little thing is going fubar on them.

Don't worry. It'll be worth it. Hell, I'm building one for my girlfriends parents with the same specs you're looking at. Stick with high quality and everything will be fine.
