building a new comp, advise appreciated

Hi all,

Building a new comp. and would appreciate some advice for cpu and mobo. I will list all the other components and any feedback on those would be appreciated as well. I would like to keep the combined price of the mobo an proc to $1000 or less. I was thinking the Q6600 is the best value due to its ability to overclock.

So you want SLi on your motherboard? You hav exactly two good choices: The EVGA 780i and the XFX 780i. Or 750i when it comes out.

Then for the processor, you have three choices:

E8400 dual-core
Q6600 quad-core
Q9450 quad-core (comes out in march)

Since your budget for the motherboard and processor was so high, I almost told you to get the $1000 QX9650.

Thanks a bunch for the help blue. I will check out those MOBOS. Dont think I have the self control to wait until March to build my system. The reason I want SLI is to run games on my 46" HD LCD TV. Probably go with the Q6600. Also, I think I am going to go with 1 8800gt for now from EVGA and then when the 9800's come out, use the step up program and get 2 9800's.

Yep, your in, and my TV sits on a mini fridge that can hold the beer.

theres also skulltrail. But that would require different cpu's.

How about dual HD3870 X2's ?
