Well after two years or so i've had enough with my Intel (ha!) celeron 400 and need to replace this system with a newer one. And as i've seen for the past year AMD has been kicking ass in the processor market. So what im getting at is I want to put together a new system. I found a AMD ATHL XP 2200+ RETAIL for 214.90 (good price?) Now what do you all think is the best motherboard bang-for-the-buck wise? I will probably go KT333. Last but not least, my Creative TNT2 ultra needs replaced, what are the best video cards out there right now that are under $300?

Thanks for your help!

In regards to a CPU/mobo combo, you first need to answer 2 questions...

1. Are you going to be overclocking 24/7?
2. What are you going to be using this system for? Surfing the Internet? mp3's? Video editing?

In regards to a video card, you need to answer 2 questions:

1. Are you going to be playing a lot of games?
2. Do you need a card with decent, good, or great 2D image quality (that is the quality of text when, for example, surfing the net).

I don't know exactly what your needs are, but I would have to say that the ASUS A7N266-VM is the best deal you can get on a feature-filled, fast, and stable Socket A motherboard (actually, stability and/or reliability are extremely difficult to gauge no matter which motherboard you're testing). In additino, this board is about $80-85 (including shiping) online.

$214 is good (pending on where you are buying it)
$300 for a video card you can just about go all out. Some Geforce 4 4600 are going for slightly more and no problem for a 4400. (I am partial to NewEgg when talking prices)
I have no advice on the motherboard.
