Building a NAS based off of Ubuntu or Suse

So, here i am installing either ubuntu or suse (latest builds) and it does the complete install. However, when it comes up after the install, all i am getting is the black screen. I dont get anything on the screen but black. it is throwing video at my monitor, because the screen is lit, but i get no graphics. Its really weird.

Is it because its an ATI 9800 Pro? It is a DX9 card, and ive read where the latest builds dont support that anymore.

Thoughts?

what os is giving you the issue? and what version of that os are you running?

I have the latest builds off of suse, and ubuntu. They are both giving me the issue.
