Building a laptop?

Is it possible[do they sell mobos individually, etcetc]? Is it practical[cost, effort]? Any advantages? And does anybody actually do it?

No. I suppose you could buy the parts from ebay, but you would probably just end up rebuilding one out of used parts. What I mean is that if you were to buy a Dell 4100 mobo, then every other part you buy would have to fit on that mobo (most laptop parts are made for a specific mobo), so you would end up with a rebuilt Dell 4100.

As for does anybody do it i don't think so. The cost isn't worth it when i can buy a whole machine for sub 1600 and it will run like no tomorrow. Yes you can buy parts new you just have to know where 2 get them. They just arn't worth it to the end builder like the desktop market is. Well at least that is my Opnion.
