Rodney posted his 1000 video review, what do you think of the rig he built? I think it's real professional made system but I wouldn't put so many fans.

I included the same type of poll he adds to his thread.

Buying the most expensive shit and throwing it in the most expensive case doesn't really impress me.

Getting the most bang for your buck makes the best system in my mind.

Can't wait until Blain comments on this one...

Major waste of money, virtually no gain from adding a second 4870X2. Lots of fat could be cut without negatively impacting performance.

What a massive waste of cash. That's ploughing hundreds upon hundreds of dollars into the graph of diminishing returns at the far end from sensible. Seriously unwise purchase; for half that price I could build something 90% as good now and something much better in 18 months' time.

Why wouldn't he wait a month for Core i7?

Because Core i7 adds nothing for gamers?

You can't say that if it hasn't even come out yet. His system isn't just to get max FPS, it is for bragging rights and if he wants the ultimate rig then he should have waited. Besides, it doesn't lose in gaming performance as seen by the Chinese reviews which I don't even trust. Intel said there would be a 52% increase in gaming.

Why are you pimping for Rodney here in the AT forums?
What goes on in the 3GM forums should stay there.

That's complete BS.

Firstly, plenty of hardware sites have already had their hands on Nehalem.

Secondly, Intel never said it would be a 52% increase in gaming, that's a complete lie, and wrong.

Thirdly:

It is without a doubt an impressive architecture with a much better platform to run on, but this CPU is not about giving you better frames per second in your favorite game than the Penryn family. Let me make that more clear: even when the GPU is not the bottleneck, it is likely that most games will not be significantly faster than on Penryn.

Nehalem is about improving HPC, Database, and virtualization performance, and much less about gaming performance. Maybe this will change once games get some heavy physics threads, but not right away.

Why? Most Games are about fast caches and super integer performance. After all, most of the Floating point action is already happening on the GPU. The Core 2 CPUs were a huge step forward in integer performance (not the least because of memory disambiguation) compared to the CPUs of that time (P4 and K8).

No, Nehalem wasn't made for the gaming enthusiasts. Rather, it was made to please the IT and HPC people. So we say bring it to it.anandtech.com; it's just not that interesting for you gamers! ;-)

Even if Nehalem wasn't made for gamers Intel marketing will find a way to convince us that it is meant for gamers so they will buy those 999$ + cpu's.

Well obviously, that's the job of the marketing department. Pimp out the big numbers and add more Xs and such on to the title and then flog it off to the cash-rich idiots. That's business.
