I ordered a Kenwood VR-6050 receiver and should be getting it soon. I need some speaker recomendations. I would like to build them my self.

Heres what I had in mind, get 4 ELF Spires and 2 Spires center channel (one for the front and one for the rear, I have an amp for the rear one).

From my previous thread the spires seem like good speakers. But, do I get 4 of them for the 4 corners or two towers for the front and two bookselfs for the rear such as these?

I already have a Shiva Mark IV as the subwoofer.

Thanks.

You can have the same speakers at all 4 spots, or you can have your better pair up front and have the rear pair lesser in value but with matching sound "type".

That said, what's your budget?

Ideally, 4 spires would be better, but for actual purposes, you wouldn't REALLY need it to so. I would get SuperELFs, like I said in the other thread, not regular ELFs, however.

Good luck!

I never get this DIY audio things, I mean, all you're really doing is just putting the stuffs together. Not that hard. What's the appeal?

Well, Creative Sound gives a person the ability to start with a Lego-DIY, and then if they so chose, to eventually just buy the drivers and whatnot. It's a really good thing, since people don't have to jump in feet first, and still get the benefits of DIY...fullblown DIY gives you more options and saves more money, but this is still a nice middle place.

I don't have a set budget, but I would like to keep it relatively cheap.

I noticed on a lot of home theater systems, they have towers in the front, and small bookselfs in the back. Is there a reason for this?

Well I bought the Spires. I only bought three kits for now. I'll start with those, and see how it goes.

Can't wait to start building the cabinets :D

Thanks for your help guys.
