I've been looking around at various MIS, Soyo, Atus boards and I'm just getting confused. I want to build a machine, my first, and make it a recording pc. I want to get a bundle, 1st preference would be AMD Athlon, then Intel for the chip.

I need to save some money but really need to get a good start.

This is what I was thinking of but think it's a little expensive, maybe I can get some advice and pros and/or cons to different setups?

Case:
D15-1002 :: Diablo Tek Black Demon ATX Mid-Tower Case with Front USB Ports

Bundle:
MBM-KT600-XP2900 :: Soyo KT600 Dragon v2.0 Socket A Motherboard and AMD Athlon XP 2900+ Processor

Power Supply:
D15-1000 :: Diablo / 550-Watt / ATX / Dual 80mm LED Fan / SATA-Ready / Power Supply

I also considered the MSI Neo2 Platinum. I've been told Tiger Direct is great but on this site I only read bad things. If anyone can give me direction I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks much.

Any opinions/suggestions of what I've listed? What are things someone "needs" in a motherboard as opposed to things money shouldn't be wasted on, like onboard stuff?

:cool:
