Building a headphone amp

I want to build myself a headphone amplifier for my Sennheiser HD595's, they have an impedance of 125 if that means anything when building one. Any advice or info would be appreciated, thanks.

pimeta

PPA

I had a Pimeta for a short time and then ended up winning a portable amp so I sold it. I would guess that a PPA or Pimeta would serve you well. You could also look for people who are selling already built versions. Just check up on their feedback because some DIY can be a little flaky (though I haven't heard of that happening at head-fi for a good while). I think there was another project, m^3, that was supposed to be a really good amp. I've only heard it once or twice. But I think that'll be out of your price range from what you stated in your other threads. I think PPA will probably be the upper range for you.

There are plenty of example circuits on google, here is one.

Eh. The LM386 is not a very high-quality IC - most of the better IC-based designs use the OPA627.

Woah, the OPA627 looks really nice. It also costs 40 times as much 🙁

I guess if this is a headphone amp for the sake of a headphone amp the LM386 might make sense, but otherwise the LM386 seems like a poor choice.
