AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition

ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 5770 1GB (combo deal with mobo and cpu) $413.97

I'm meh on this entire combo. The 1055t is a much better chip than the 965 for 20$ more, while the 955 is 20$ cheaper but close to the 965. Mobo is overkill, but last gen. GPU is fine. Ga-870a is a good mobo, as is the MSI 870a-G55.

PQI TURBO 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) $75.99
DDR2? Not for a new build. G.skill 1.5 volt 1600 speed DDR3 is ~5$ more expensive.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3750528AS 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s $69.99
Bad rap on stability, bad price/performance when a Samsung F3 is a terabyte, a better drive, and only 5$ more expensive.
CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V $109.99

Overkill, but not a very nice PSU for 100$. Either save money or go for a higher efficiency/modular one.

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card
$49.99

Why? Unnecessary if you choose a mobo with good integrated.

SAMSUNG CD/DVD Burner Black SATA $19.99

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit $99.99

Excellent, but check for a combo deal with either of those.

Case - Rosewill CHALLENGER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case, comes with Three Fans-1x Front Blue LED 120mm Fan, 1x Top 140mm Fan, 1x Rear 120mm Fan, option Fans-2x Side 120mm Fan $39.99
Personal choice?
LG W2053TP-PF Black 20" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 70000:1 $139.99

Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite & Microsoft Explorer Mouse $64.98
I'm kinda meh on that, but CBA to google them. I advise against wireless peripherals as they have higher latency, need batteries, and can have connectivity issues. Monitor is TN, but for the price it's ok.

DANGER! What you have listed WILL NOT work! The M4A79XTD EVO is a DDR3 motherboard while you have DDR2 RAM.

I agree with Sp12 that that combo seems pretty high for what you get. It's only $35 off a pretty expensive mobo and CPU. You'll be much better off forgetting about Crossfire.

If we assume you start off +35 because of the combo discount:
Swap the CPU to a 945 (-40) -5
Swap the mobo to a M4A77TD + Win7 HP combo (-44) -49
Swap the RAM for this G.Skill DDR3 (+6) -43
Swap the PSU to a 650TX (-20) -63
Dump the sound card (-50) -113
Swap the GPU for a GTX 470 (+135) +22

For $20 more, you can get a card with performance that's pretty much equal to Crossfire 5770s right now.

That's a nice combo. As cheap as the PSU with coupon code + when the HDD was $60 on shellshocker!

Do NOT buy a GTX 465. It is a cut-down placeholder card that Nvidia rushed out while waiting for the GTX 460 to be ready. It is hotter, louder, and slower than a GTX 460. Either get the GTX 470 that I originally recommended, or get a 1GB GTX 460 if you want to spend a little less.

As for the monitor, 21.5" s a bit small for 1080P in my opinion. This ASUS is cheaper (AR) and bigger.

What mfenn said, It looks like between everyone else you have your parts figured out a little better. I'll just pop in to ask who is building this for you if you aren't experienced? You're going to have someone to help right? I'm sorry if I seem over-worried, but if this is your first go at things you probably have someone knowledgeable help. I would have been completely lost on my first build if I was on my own.

Has your dad done it before? It's good to have an idea what you're doing but a lot of times parts are somewhat different and online tutorials only get you so far. If your dad hasn't, you may have a friend who's done it before? Ordering the right parts is about 75 percent of the experience, but the other 25 percent can get difficult.

Alright, just making sure. I just wanted to make sure you weren't going to end up with all these parts and not know where to start.
