Building A Dual-Core

Right know I have p43.4 with 1gb of ram. Its getting slow for my needs, I use photoshop, audition. I need to build a dual core(reading the reviews looks amd 3800 or 4000 looks like a good deal).

Right know my board uses this kind of memory (DDR2 533 MHz and DDR2 400 MHz DIMMs), can that be reused or no ??

For an AMD X2 series processor, No, you cannot use DDR2 (240 pin) modules, as the X2's memory controller only supports DDR (184 pin) modules.

Wait until AM2 comes out, those will be able to use DDR2 and they'll be out soon with basically the same chips as 939 (as far as we know) so you should be able to get an AM2 3800x2 which can use your DDR2 for around the same price as a 939 one.

Theoretically, you may be right. However, the OP stated he is using either DDR2 533 or DDR2 400, and AM2 is slated to be either DDR2 667 or DDR2 800, which at best would really kill performance on the AM2 platform, or at worst, be incompatible.
