Any comments/suggestions? This computer is going to be used for gaming and work related stuff. I use ADOBE products, excel, word, etc and all the latest games.

I have to ring up the dealer to find out if it is a Venice Core
Also this is the first time I have used an AMD chip
CPU: Athlon64 3500+ BOX (2.2Ghz) Processor with Hyper Transport Technology (Socket 939)

I would also like to know, when I went to the Aussie site for the motherboard I wanted (this one is the delux one) it says Socket 939 for AMD Athlon 64FX/[/b]Athlon 64 X2[/b]/Athlon 64. Does this mean it can handle the Dual-Core processor and it also says this

AMD Athlon? 64 X2 Dual-Core processor
This motherboard supports AMD 939-pin Athlon? 64 X2 Dual-Core processor with 1MBx2 or 512KBx2 L2 cache which is based on 64-bit architecture. It features better multithreaded / multitasking performance than Athlon? 64 FX / Athlon? 64.

Can you guys check it out and tell me please!

You could save a bit of cash if you got a Venice 3000+ or 3200+ for the CPU and just overclocked it. I also wouldn't bother with an SLI capable mainboard, especially if you are getting a 6600GT now. The 7800GTX that's currently available already offers about twice the performance (if not more) of a single 6600GT (and 2 6600GT's in SLI won't always mean 2x the performance), so adding another one a year or so down the road really doesn't make any sense at all. Save yourself some cash and get the non-SLI variant of the board.

Yes, any socket-939 board should be able to support dual-core Athlon processors with (at most) a BIOS update, and that board is no exception.

DVD ROM:
ASUS DRW-1608P - Black
Why? An NEC/BenQ/Pioneer will do andthey're much better. If you absolutely NEED the security of having the best burner, Plextor is the way to go.

I wouldn't recommend the A8N-SLI anyways. Look at the ABIT AN8, DFI LanParty Ultra-D. Better boards IMO, A8N-SLI is pretty buggy.

Just a note, I don't want to overclock this computer.

Yeah but see if I do cut back and get a 3200+ instead of a 3500+ I save $100 which is about $70USD and the difference between the 6600GT and the 6800GT is $500 which is about $375USD (I was thinking of a 6800GT). So getting a lower speed AMD will not do any benefit in this case.

OK so those worries are gone! :D

I am getting ASUS parts because I can get them at warehouse price, so like the motherboard, graphics card and DVD ROM have to be ASUS.

I trying to save as much money as possible. As I don't work. These are basically the 3 types of boards I can get (I can also get all the delux versions etc)

-A8N-SLI
-A8N-E
-A8V-E

All 3 types are practically the same price, I choose the SLI since it had more features and I will be looking to upgrade the computer as time goes on.

EDIT: Just looking at some threads about the Thermaltake Tusnami, they have been saying it's quite loud, which is one thing I do not want. Can any of you make a suggestion? Thanks

Get an Athlon 64 3000+ since you are overclocking. All the venices basically overclock the same so you might as well save your money. Also how much dopes that RAM cost? You definitely should get a different PSU. Also I have no experience with that TT case, but I have heard bad things about it being just an overall poor case. You could get a cheaper case such as the Cooler Master Centurion 5 and get a Fortron AX500-A for the PSU.

With the money you save from buying a cheaper CPU you should be able to get a X800XL which performs similair to a 6800GT, but is $250 at Monarch.

Definitely get the DFI NF4 Ultra-D too.

-get an AMD64 1.8 GHz

-Radeon X800 XL @ www.monarchcomputer.com

-get 1gb of Corsair value select

-an NCQ HD won't matter too much for your uses, but definetly go SATA

-you can get a dual layer for 40 bucks if you search on www.pricegrabber.com

-if at the website it sez it supports dual core, then it will support dual core according to the models listed (unless BIOS is updated later, it may support newer CPU's and related technology)

Any suggesttions on cases sine I don't wan't to get the Tsunami any more because people having been saying it's annoying to open the case and power it on and it's a noisy thing. The only thing I want on the case is it to be black and has a see through side panel.

What about these 2 cases?
