I'm building an AMD Athlon 1.2Ghz computer. I will use it for some games. I'd like to spend no more than $75-100 on a video card. I'm not familiar with all the new video cards and whether it's really necessary to have DDR. I only don't want pausing between frames when playing games or DVD and I'd like good quality graphics. Thanks.

Radeon LE, then firmware it to a Radeon LE, enabling HyperZ, and overclocking it.

Voila! You have a Radeon 32 MB DDR!

I just recently put together a system just about like that, but we wanted VIVO, so I put in an ATI Rage 128 Pro with 32 Mb RAM for $65 from newegg.com. It runs a lot of games great, but it might not do so how on the high end. The Geforce 2 MX should be a great choice for that price range. It doesn't have DDR either, but considered a great card. Avoid the Geforce 200 MX and maybe go for the 400 MX if available or the original MX. Have fun!

Whatever you do stay away from the geforce 2 mx! Horrible performance with horrible picture quality does not match! Go for the Radeon LE and hack it into a 32mb ddr or just buy the 32mb ddr for less hassle and perhaps even more overclocking. The Radeon family has much much better picture quality along with the badass hardware dvd decoding is just so awesome. Ive compared the picture quality of geforce to radeons side by side monitors and I have found the Radeons are better... a LOT better!

Radeon Le and flash it to Radeon DDR. By far the most cost effective solution on the market right now ($70 for a top notch video card; that can't be beat).

for a little more cash, geforce 2 pro for $142 at newegg. but everyone here seems to like the radeon better. well, it's definitely more performance for your money.
