I'm building my sister a new system for christmas, and I've managed to narrow it down, so that I'm left with a few options. She would only use it for email, web browing, Office and some photo editing.

I live in Norway, so the prices might be different from what you're used to, but I think you get the picture ;-)

1) Complete system approx. $430
AMD Sempron 2400+
ASUS A7V400-MX
GeIL PC3200 Value 512MB

2) Complete system approx. $550
AMD Sempron 3100+
ASUS K8N
GeIL PC3200 Value 512MB

3) Complete system approx. $560
AMD Athlon 64 2800+
ASUS K8N
GeIL PC3200 Value 512MB

4) Complete system approx. $685
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ ''Winchester''
ASUS V9400 Magic/T MX4000 128 MB
GeIL PC3200 Value 512MB
MSI K8T Neo2 Series

Right now I think I will go for option 3. It seems to be kind of a sweet spot when it comes to value for money at the moment.

Anyone of you disagree? Any input would be appreciated.

Sorry, I forgot to write that the prices include all the other parts that I need:

- harddrive
- midi tower
- DVD-player

The rest (monitor, keyboard, fans, mouse, etc) I already have.

The variables in this equation is the CPU/mobo combination.
