I've been reading hardware sites for a week - I'm fairly up to speed with what kinda hardware is current, however I don't really have the time/patience to figure out the best/configuration for this gamer PC. So here I am :)

I've got a soft budget of $1500. I'm not looking to overclock anything. I want this machine to be relatively future-proof so I'm looking for it to be AMD64/PCIe/SATA compatible. I'm looking for suggestions for the following:

CASE -
PSU -
MOBO -
CPU -
RAM -
VIDEO -
CD/DVD -

I've pretty much decided on the HD being a WD Raptor II 74GB, and onboard LAN/Audio works.

I have no other requirements (monitor/speakers/kb/mouse).

If you can suggest a configuration, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Add the raptor and a storage drive and your still under $1500. With a moderate overclock this would be a monster gamer. I'm running the SD 3700+ at 2.8ghz. If you are absolutely against overclocking spend an extra $50 and get the Venice 3800+ it will run slightly faster at stock speed.

*edit*
Many people will say get a Venice 3000+ and overclock it 2.6ghz+ and spend the money you save on a X850 or 6800Ultra
