Within the next week I'll be buying new components and putting together a new computer.

I currently have...

- 1.5GHz CPU
- Intel Pentium 4
- 768MB RAM
- Nvidia GeForce2
- 120GB HDD

I'll be upgrading to...

- Case: Antec 900
[http://www.newegg.com/Product/...129021&Tpk=antec%2b900]
- CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad(2.4GHz), hopefully NewEgg will send me the G0 stepping
[http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16819115017]
- Heatsink: Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (I'll most likely overclock the Core 2 Quad to around 3.0GHz-3.2GHz, so I need the extra cooling!)
- Motherboard: Asus/Intel P35 ATX
[http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813131182]
- Power Supply: PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad
[http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817703009]
- RAM: Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB(2 x 2GB)
- Video Card: EVGA GeForce 8800GTX
[http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814130072]
- HDD: WD 320GB
[http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16822136074]
- DVD Drive: Samsung 20x SH-203B
[http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16827151153]

Right now all that is at around $2000.

What do you guys think? Anything I should change, add, remove, etc...?

Thanks for all help.

1. Gaming, 3D work.

2. Around $2000-$2200

3. USA. California to be exact, from NewEgg.

4. Not much of a brand preferance, but as long as its top-notch quality and well know, then I'm ok with it.

5. Just my monitor, 19" ViewSonic VX-924 1280x1024

6. N/A

7. Yes, I plan on overclocking to ~3.3GHz

none of your links work, perhaps you need to copy and paste correctly.

If you are getting 4GB of RAM your OS will not recognize all of it unless you get a 64bit OS. Also you are getting 2x2GB sticks...you could buy 4 X1GB sticks with lower latency for less money. Everything I have read states that games seem to like the lower latencies more than they like the higher clock speeds. If you are buying 2GB sticks because it allows you more room to upgrade in the future, I would say, most likely by the time you actually need 8GB of RAM (for gaming at least) you will probably be looking into buying a completely new computer with DDR3 RAM anyway.

Ram: Please change that to crucial Ballstix PC6400, or PC8400. Much better ram IMO.

Board: Thats a great board, however, its not very newbie friendly in overclocking. May i recomend my favorate Gigabyte P35-DQ6.

And i have both P5K, and DQ6 incase your wondering.

PSU: I love that PSU, however, i love my ANTEC Quattro 850W even more.

They can be found cheaper at provantage.com however they have a slow mailing time. It will take around 1 week.

Heres a review of it on jonnyguru's personal site.

You may want to compare prices at mwave.com as well. Most of the time there cheaper on high demand items.

The 750w PSU is probably overkill, especially if you're not using SLI/Crossfire. I would get the Corsair 620hx for $60 less after rebate. It's modular too.

Total overkill on the PSU, a 520hx for 80$ AR or so would still be plenty of power.

I have the DQ6 aswell... it is amazing.

Hmmm consider getting the Ultima 90 instead.

Build looks good.
