Buildin a media stand out of plywood.

I plan on a building a custom media stand out of 3/4" plywood and apply a wood veneer and then stain. The only realy woodworking i've seen in person is cabinet making, and I assume making a media stand is somewhat similar. But what happens with you dont have a air powered nail gun? lol. Would i just use some screw and cover them with wood filler?

Any other helpful tips. I'll be sure to post back with progress pics.

If you're just going to glue a veneer over it, you can countersink the screws so their heads are flush with the surface, then glue right over it. If you use drywall screws, they'll usually countersink themselves that much without predrilling clearance holes for the heads.

I don't use plywood and veneer at all, but I do a small amount of woodworking with real wood. I'm building a printer stand right now out of Red Oak. In the case of real wood, I countersink the screws, then cut tiny wood plugs and glue them into the holes with the grain aligned so it looks correct. On close inspection you can see them, but from a distance it looks seamless.

Why all plywood? Why not use pine or something for the structure and 3/4" plywood/MDF for the shelves?

i second this. pine would look better
