Parts express has the same drivers that are in the Z560s available separately.

These would make sweet front speakers in your car. Put them in parallel and have twice the output at 4 ohms, perfect for your automobile. To make them work the best, I recommend an active crossover set at 100hz.
Black Phase Plug
$10.59 each

aluminum (silver color) phase plug
$11.32 each

The speakers specs are very similar, only major difference is the color. I kinda like the black better myself, and for some reason, its cheaper. Still, these speakers have an impressive frequency response and eliminate the need for a passive crossover, and the distortion crossovers make.

If you are really into this stuff, they have both 2" and 4" versions of this. Only the 3" version has the best overall frequency response. If you know what a line array is, these speakers would make for a sweet setup.

I hope this deal is hot to some, I lurk a whole lot more than I post.

The power rattings are a lot different so they must look the same but be different or the logitechs might be a higher model. If you want good car speakers and have some money i would say go infinity kappa all the way but thats just me. =]

the silver phase plug unit is EXACTLY the same as the logitech Z560 speaker.

How should I put it, Logitech slightly overrates their speakers. These things are the real deal. If you are doing a custom car install, two 3" speakers, or eight, could be configured to 4 ohms and be capable of some seriously clean output. The frequency response curve of these speakers is nothing short of amazing..

If you like your Z560s as much as I do, why not have a set in your car or at home?

These make excellent home theater drivers. Make a line array with four drivers per satellite, wired to 8 ohms, just make sure your receiver has a high pass filter you can set at 100hz.

never said there were thousands of websites. i just don't think it's so over the top. coming from a tech site that people regularly build their own PC's, i'd think DIY stuff would be embraced.

check out partsexpress.com. they have some cool DIY speaker kits.

here are some sites, if you are interested at all: google-fied

(btw, i am in no way a speaker building expert. i just read up on some interesting articles)

IMO too many variables in speaker building, and the only thing DIY i do, besides building comp, is mow the lawn and stuff...I'm gonna shut up now before they lock this tread...

Google is your friend.
Guy in OT who is building his own sub arrays.

Lots of people build their own speakers. There is nothing hard nor "over the top" about it. Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean that others won't appreciate his post.

Thanks for the post SuperMAC.

The freq response these things have is incredible for the price. If I could afford it, I would build two floor standing setups with 16 speakers each in a line from floor to ceiling wired for 4 ohms.

This could have some serious output and be rediculously accurate. Poor mans Martin Logans IMO.

go get WINISD if you want to design your own ported box (bass reflex). However, you could just as well design a small sealed box using the same program, or just throw them in a sealed box. These aren't bass monsters, they just make for an incredible satellite. Running two in parallel effectively raises the "efficiency" figure 3DB to 89 or 90DB (depending on model chosen)

This is average for most home theater and car speakers...

Isn't there a whole voodoo science type of thing when it comes to making an enclosure for a speaker? You obviously just can't put that driver in a wood box and expect it to sound anywhere near a Z560...spend the $$$ on a real set of speakers - designed and engineered to get the best performance out of these $12 drivers...

Considerring that the 560's themselves are around $100, it isn't an incredibly hot deal to build your own right now, esp if you don't know what you're doing. Building something bigger/badder/louder/more channels is what you should be doing with these.
