So I've been running thing rig for about a month now, with minor changes in voltage and FSB. Recently upgraded my NB cooling to a Thermalrite HR03, installed an Accelero cooler on my x1900gt. Would test temps using TAT, speedfan and ATI tool, temps seemed to be in order. CPU never went above 65, graphics card never went above 65, HDD running at 30-35, NB was much cooler after HR03 install.
Was playing some Neverwinter Nights 2 yesterday, started crashing a lot. Oh well, NWN2 hates ATI cards, I figured, just save and stop playing for the night. Then I realize that I had Opera open in the background, and that it was crashing as well. No good, I figured I'd take it easy on the computer and run ORTHOS the next day and see what was up.
Messing around on the internet later, played a bit of a flash game to take a break from writing a paper. The second I close Opera, I get a weird message of Kaspersky telling me that a file has been altered or something, FLASH then crashes, then my computer just gets unbelievably slow and my right and left click are reversed. So I do a manual restart, and the computer won't go past the windows loading screen without restarting. At this point I'm thinking either software problem or OCing problem, but the onset of instability was pretty sudden.
I go into BIOS, load failsafe defaults, try to reboot, IT WONT EVEN POST.
What the hell happened?
I don't see any LED activity from the ethernet port on the MOBO when I power up, and I don't hear/see the HDD spinning.
I originally thought it could be the graphics card geeking out on me, so I took off the Accelero, reapplied thermal pads to the memory chips, the pads which I believe the instructions told me to remove initially, in order to see if maybe there was some gap between the cooler and the chips.
Beats me.
Help please.
Edit: Removed my first stick of ram, booted. Put it back in, wouldn't boot.
Then switched my first ram stick from slot 1 to slot 4 and my second ram stick from slot 3 to slot 2. Booted, set a mild OC to 7x300 running at 1.312 V 50 under load ORTHOS. Can anyone explain what the hell happened? A problem with the first DDR slot of my mobo?
