Well I'm attempting to build a new system for myself as a gaming/pvr/digital media editing pc. How's this build? It's just over $1,000 from newegg. I was thinking AMD, but I decided that I'd rather have the quieter technology such as fanless motherboard and the newer technology such as the ddr2 ram, so that when i upgrade down the line, i'll be able to use the ram in another system.

LMK how the build is and if there's anything else, I'm trying to budget around $1,000. Do you think the X-fi soundcard is worth it, if I can trim a little bit of the other stuff?

AMD also offers fanless motherboards just have to know which ones to choose :p. I really suggest AMD at the moment. For most applications AMD is just much better. Also AMD's dual cores are much more efficient that intels. The X-FI sound card isn't worth it unless you have some decent speakers. If you only have a deecent set of 2.1's I'd take the onboard sound. It works well enough. The case is fine. THe drive is fine. If you do any gaming I would suggest a better video card. Also suggest dual channel ram and 2x1gb or 2x512. Of course you could always but 1gb and then buy another piece later when you need it. Still I would really suggest AMD

BS... ATI is fine, and is currently the performance leader. X1900XT is an amazing card and the price isnt too much for the second best card available right now. ATI dosent have problems with nvidia sponsored games.... i run an ATI! 9800 PRO and quite a few on the games i play come up with that "the way its meant to be played" thing with the nvidia logo, no problems at all.

To the OP: ATI is fine, and also yea, you might want 2gb of RAM, its not neccesary now but it will be in the not to distant future. For gaming anyways.

Choose an AMD proc.

Stick with the Mushkin RAM, it's top quality stuff.
