Build Suggestions - Low Power Home Server HTPC.

Time for a new Build

So this time i state my Priorities at the beginning
1.Windows Platform (7/8/8.1)
2.Lowest Power Consumption possible while running
3.24x7 Running Capable
4.Good Heat Dissipation , but not at the cost of Noise - A Mix of both worlds
5.Atleast 2 Sata Ports (More the merrier)

At first just advice the Processor & Motherboard , Rest of the Parts shall be decided after CPU & Motherboard

So Presently i am thinking of these:

1.Athlon 5350 (Kabini) + AM1 Motherboard --- [Readily Available + Low Price] ---25 W
or
2.A8-7650K (Kaveri Refresh) (Running at 45W) + FM2+ Motherboard ---- [Higher Price + Have to wait some weeks for availability in my country[ ---- 45W *1
or
3.Some Intel Broadwell-U15W + HD 6000 Graphics Processor (E.g.:Core i7-5650U) [Pricey + No Idea when it will arrive in my country] ---- 15W *2

*2--http://www.anandtech.com/show/8814/intel-releases-broadwell-u-new-skus-up-to-48-eus-and-iris-6100
My Country-India (If that helps !)

So Which kind of Setup i should go ?
If you guys have something else in mind please do share.

Probable Usage of the System / Softwares that should run in the System:
1.Running Typical Softwares like FTP, Owncloud, Bittorrent Sync etc
2.utorrent
3.Mail Clients
4.Browsing
5.Word Processing
6.Trillian
7.Antivirus + Firewall + Anti Spyware. (Essentials)
8.IRC Sofwares
9.Usenet Softwares
10.jdownlaoder or similar
11.Occasional Movie / Music
12..... I'll Tell You if i come up with something new this time.

P.S.if it does not belong here , please move it to the appropriate section.

I'd consider a J1900 board for a basic home server. It's inexpensive, has a 10W TDP, and will handle any kind of home server or light usage up to (but not including) transcoding.

You indicated lowest power consumption possible, which would seem to be exactly what mfenn suggested. Not only that, but it is very similar in performance to what you have provided in option 1.

Trouble is, you're looking for lowest power usage possible, but are giving options that are significantly higher than that, so it would appear you are not JUST looking for lowest power possible.

To me, it would seem that either your 1st option or mfenn's fits your exact criteria. It seems the 5350 has the slight edge in performance, while the 1900 has the edge in lowest power consumption.

Sounds like you need to better define what you are after.

Better Define.... How ?
Give me some indications please.

I tried listing the possible uses , not all of them will run concurrently
only 2-3 at a time.

So , tell me what do you want to know more ?...shoot me some direct questions.

And if anything new is out there , that i am not aware of , and fits my criteria , then please tell me about it.

You asked for lowest power possible, and you get a response of something that uses 10W TDP.

Your options were 25/45W.

The direct question is what is your most CPU intensive task that you need it to perform adequately. If the J1900 type of config is adequate, then you have your answer.

Just out of curiosity , which of the Tasks (Out of the 12+ i Listed ) is the Most CPU Intensive ?

Web browsing or HD movie watching depending on the web sites. Neither are very intensive.

So Considering i am not doing everything that i listed simultaneously

What is your Suggestion?

QUESTION:
What comes after Kabini in the AM1 platform From AMD ?
Since Kabini is already around 1.2 Year Old 😱
